When Braulio was 9 years old he began his martial arts career when he started studying Judo. With only a year of training Braulio's Judo instructor passed away unexpectedly in a bike accident causing Braulio to stop training. At the age of 16 Braulio went to the Gracie Barra Academy where he started training Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Braulio has competed in the biggest grappling competitions in the world winning gold on 13 different occasions. 2009 was likely his best year in competition winning gold in the European Championship -94kg and Absolute divisions, World Jiu Jitsu Championship (Mundials) -99kg division and the ADCC -88kg and Absolute divisions. Braulio also holds the European Championship record for wins with 5
2010 Braulio was scheduled to make his MMA debut against Rick Hawn at Shine Fights: Worlds Collide. The fight card was cancelled when the main event of Ricardo Mayorga vs Din Thomas fell apart. Braulio then waited two years before finally making his debut for Titan Fighting Championships where he submitted Chris Holland by arm-triangle in round one.
